I'm glad you said that. This was the problem with Lympro. It was really charting new waters. There were no rules on what is good enough. I remember the company saying the goal post kept getting moved. Some see that as excuses but I believe it. GC had 3 of the smartest Dr around him in Dr. J, Dr. L and Dr. C. I'm sure they were frustrated as much as we were.
Now in in a recent PR about Elto, they know what it will take to get into trial and be successful. They don't have to trial and error their way and will redesign the trial for success.
I forget what the company said the trial would cost ($6M) but that seems much cheaper than throwing a lot of money at something and the FDA comes back and says you should have done it different.
Being first to market is great. Being second to market with something better is even better.
