Cellceutix Completes Enrollment in Phase 2b Clinical Trial of Brilacidin for Acute Bacterial Skin and Skin Structure Infections (ABSSSI)
BEVERLY, MA--(Marketwired –August 19,2014)- Cellceutix Corporation (OTCQB: CTIX) (the "Company"
, a clinical stage biopharmaceutical company developing innovative therapies in oncology, dermatology, and antibiotic applications, has announced the completion of enrollment in its Phase 2b trial comparing Brilacidin™ to daptomycin (Cubicin®) in patients with acute bacterial skin and skin structure infections (ABSSSI). Overall, 215 patients were randomized to one of three dosing regimens of Brilacidin (single dose 0.6mg/kg; single-dose 0.8mg/kg; 1.2mg/kg over 3 days) or 7 days of once daily daptomycin.
Brilacidin is the lead compound among a novel class of antibiotics known as defensin-mimetics. These compounds have shown great promise in preclinical and early clinical studies as potent antibiotics that can kill Staph aureus, including methicillin-resistant Staph aureus (MRSA). Moreover, given the unique mechanism of action, among other attributes, there is low, if any, potential for the development of resistance. Finally, the results of the current study may demonstrate that Brilacidin could be given as a single-dose, which provides benefits for both patients and society.
This combination of properties makes Brilacidin unique among antibiotics recently approved or in development for the treatment of MRSA. Because these other compounds come from existing classes of antibiotics, there is the potential for cross-resistance; this is not the case for Brilacidin.
"This is an important milestone for Cellceutix and for the field of infectious diseases" said Leo Ehrlich, the company's CEO. "There is no other antibiotic with these properties, which can treat infection and potentially decrease the burden of antibiotic resistance. Resistance, the antibiotic slayer. We are now in the process of manufacturing 30 kg of Brilacidin for future clinical trials which we plan for multiple forms of serious infections."
The company expects data from the trial to be available in the fourth quarter of 2014.

One thing I noticed is there seems to be more new posters showing up here. It seems like a month ago the followers of this board, was in the low 400's. I see today it is 446 followers. I agree, it looks like smart money is in here buying, but I also think we have gained new interest from Retail. Not sure how they found their way here.

If you could tell me what the root cause of this two day surge was, then I could attempt to give a decent prediction. If our first institution is here then I think we could do over a million shares and it is possible to close at $2.09 or higher. If not, then I have no clue. :>

Couple thoughts:
1) Don't think much retail participation yet. This won't really heat up until Smart Money passes the wand.
2) Could be R&R conference may set limits to selling.
3) I'm still not ruling out that Smart Money may take another break. They have been pretty cagey. Large sellers taking advantage of the increased liquidity may overplay their hand and create too much supply.
4) Regardless, I don't see this run as being over. It may take a break or two going forward.
5) Overall, Smart Money usually moves on information. Information, often not obvious to the general market. Once this information becomes clear to all; then, Smart Money reaps in their profit as price reflects the information. This is key, because timing is a question, but direction is less so. Just follow the Smart Money.

Great post INH! Also, excellent call on picking up on all the stealth buying the past several weeks preceding this move. The volume the past 3 days: 79k, 432k on Friday, and 804k yesterday.
It will be very interesting to see what today brings.
Does volume surge yet again over a million shares, or does volume taper off?

I believe that we will get updates by R and R for all 3 agents currently in clinical trials
Some large group or groups are buying in now because they believe the data will propel the
pps.
Volume upswings always precede news and I hope for the best.

Poor critters. If Dr. Menon can formulate an aphrodisiac these creatures may not go extinct along with tigers and all the other animals supposedly killed for that reason alone.
