This is an idea for an advertisement should HIMR begin underwater logging operations in the United States. I assume the advertising might be done by North Cal, or any number of other reclaimed/recovered wood retailers.
Recovered woods are those 300-500+ year old salvaged or reclaimed woods that come from America's great forests of the past. These woods offer striking beauty, quality, a slice of American history, and environmental benefits unmatched by today's lumber because no trees are cut down, making them a green choice.
These are the great woods our ancestors built with and we are very fortunate to build with them once again. The virgin growth woods we are recovering haven't been available in any quantity since the early 1900's. You might call this the second “Golden Age” of lumber products, and we are indeed fortunate to have this opportunity.
Customers can come to our showrooms and see examples of wood flooring, beams, sidings, moldings, countertops, and dimensional lumber. Different wood species and types on display are Sinker Cypress, Sinker Longleaf Pine, Reclaimed Cypress, Reclaimed Longleaf Pine, and Reclaimed Oak. The Sinker woods are incredibly beautiful 300-500+ year old virgin growth Cypress and Longleaf pine logs that are pulled up by underwater logging efforts from lakes and waterways once used by logging companies to transport these timbers to mills. Huge numbers of these logs became waterlogged and sank along the way; some estimating up to 30% of all trees felled ended up at the bottom.
