I'm talking hangover. You spend under $20 the odds of a hangover go waaaay up in my experience. But sure $18 is reasonable too. I'm approximating but I wouldn't touch a $10 bottle unless I was willing to risk feeling crappy the next day.
And yeah, tons of $20-ish bottles superior to far more expensive bottles. Especially in the champagne/sparkly word.
I usually gravitate towards my favorite varietals (Austrian, Bordeauxs, Super Tuscans, Aglianicos) and aim for sub 14% abv (ideally sub 13%), and avoid the cheap stuff. Haven't had a wine hangover in eons.

Like someone else said, I've been wondering lately if all the recent activity is to clean-up the books for a BO. The fact we haven't formed a real long-term partnership with a big-pharma in any indication reinforces that theory.
