Dr.Acula: As a trial lawyer for 30 yrs prior to retirement, totally agree with your lawyer re firms which advertise for class action lawsuits. My firm handled numerous high stakes lawsuits involving multiple plaintiffs. We never sought class action status in those cases. Strictly class action law firms are in business to leverage nuisance settlements by any means possible. When these firms occasionally stumble across claims that actually have merit, they refer those clients to real litigation firms. My firm has represented many such referrals in products liability cases over the years.
These CYDY class action suits are of the nuisance variety. They will eat up some attorneys fees, but I pay no attention to them because, relative to what's important, they pale in significance. Spending board time on them, in my judgment, is a waste of time.
