Rep. Mia Love to Play Alongside Male Colleagues

Rep. Mia Love (R-Utah) is joining her male colleagues in the annual Congressional Baseball Game, which pits Republican lawmakers against their Democratic counterparts.
Love, who already participates in the Congressional Women’s Softball Game, will be the only woman on the Republican team. Rep. Nanette Barragán (D-Calif.) is the only woman on the Democratic team.
“I tell the guys not to let the nail polish fool them,” Love said, according to The Salt Lake Tribune. “I’m pretty competitive.”
On "Fox & Friends" on Tuesday, Love said she's looking forward to taking the field at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C., on June 14 for the game, which raises money for various charities.

Love told Brian Kilmeade that the event has extra significance because it comes exactly one year after a shooter targeted Republican members of Congress while they practiced for the 2017 game, seriously wounding House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.).
"I think it's going to be a celebration of survival, a celebration of they didn't take my friend Scalise out," Love said.
Love said she's honored that she was asked to participate in the game, particularly since she will be playing second base, the same position Scalise played.
