Cade aprova aquisição do controle da LifeScan

The Administrative Council of Economic Defense (Cade) approved without restriction the acquisition of 100% of the business of the American company LifeScan by the American group Platinum Equity. The operation covers all activities of LifeScan, which is a division of the diabetes treatment segment of Johnson & Johnson (J&J). The dispatch was published on Thursday (24) in the Official Gazette of the Union (DOU).

According to the opinion of Cade's superintendent General (SG), the operation does not result in horizontal overlap or vertical integration. "Platinum does not control any other company with activities in the sector of self-monitoring glucose systems nor does it control other companies that may have a vertical relationship with the LifeScan market," says the text.

The Platinum group has participation in several companies with activities in the country, but none of them operates in horizontal or vertical sectors related to the business of LifeScan.

Headquartered in Chesterbrook, Pennsylvania (USA), LifeScan markets blood glucose monitoring systems for home and hospital use under the global OneTouch brand.
