I expect one of two outcomes in the next 10 days:
Post# of 11802
1. J&J will accept the offer from Platinum.
2. J&J will look to management and former management to put together a management buyout at a level between the $2.1 billion offer received and the enterprise value of $2.7 billion.
Former management, which would have to include an aging industry legend, will have its hands full trying to raise the money. J&J might have to bolster the private debt fund management decides to use, perhaps investing $3 billion into that fund.
A management buyout would make several demands, one of which would be to decouple from Lifescan Scotland Ltd. and moving manufacturing to China or Taiwan (nobody in Korea would touch a J&J division, because Koreans have scruples).
The next 30 days should be a big deal with DECN. They should complete the last steps with their PetSure product and introduce it in June and they should complete the clinical trials with their GenChoice product and begin selling it in July or early August overseas.
