It's a good point and one to think about. It does seem that MANF has some localization properties to it. For example, maybe a shot in the eye will help protect against RP, but not make you fat or cure your Parkinson. But all that would need to be shown in trials.
The funny thing is every other drug has a ton of side effects in either small print or the TV commercial rockets through ( i.e. this drug will make you happy, sad, impotent, high, stupid, drop heavy machinery on your toe, grow an extra leg, etc.)
If MANF, in it's protective nature for various indication has some side effects, I personally wouldn't mind being a bit over weight vs. blind. At least I could see who was calling me fatty and go kick their ass.
I just picture Dr Saarma and Dr. Commissiong reading iHang on the weekend and getting a good laugh as I'm sure none of us have a clue what MANF can really do including myself. But it passes time while we wait for news and new developments.
