By far, most users of a board simply read it and do not post. I think this has been true of almost all board systems I've been on.
Many readers are only sporadic in doing this reading as well, part of this being that life intrudes upon our wish to keep up with posts.
I think most people also hate being attacked/criticised/challenged by other posters. Those of us longs who are among the more frequent posters tend to have thicker skins. Bashers are also frequent posters but they - IMHO - are being paid for their efforts (salary/commissions/profits from talking their book).
It's much more peaceful here and we still have almost all the useful information without as much aggravation.
