ok its time to look at the positives..
1) VRNG share price is currently lower than the avg price pre merger with innovate and protect... that is back when it was a video ringtones software company that was losing money and didn't have a huge warchest of patents.
2) VRNG legal team never put a foot wrong.. throughout the past 2 years they have done nothing but win.. so they lost the big one and yes that bites hard.. but that doesn't mean the legal team is any less proficient at what they do .. if anything it points to some serious failings in the US Legal system.
3) VRNG locked in a cash and patents deal with MSFT on patents which were ruled to be invalid.. (not a bad score for some so called invalid patents)
4) VRNG still hase a huge box of Nokia patents... not software related and not so obvious and therefore not likely to be subject to the same fate as the IP Engine patents.
5)If VRNG does not take this to the supremes then cash burn will be reduced dramatically.. if they do then some limited faith will be restored in the stock.
so to me at 88c the stock looks oversold... does that mean it can recover some of its lost ground? well that depends on the shorts.
but that being said, shorts really don't have much reason to stick around now because they already hit the jackpot on the big binary event... and there really aren't any other binary events that can go against vrng that are of the same magnitude.
so i'm going to go out on a limb here and call bottom somewhere around 60-80c
given that we still have 30+ million in the bank and the 1 billion plus royalties from goog were never factored in to the share price I'm going to split the baby and say we should be looking at a price target of between 1.20-1.50 per share which is in line with what some others have suggested.
SQ COMING TO VRNG.... WATCH FOR NEW$$$$$
Yeah, Smart Money, I agree.
There's just too much fiction and nonsense being tossed around. Which is pretty disappointing since real people have lost a lot of money on VRNG this past week.
Inventors can't patent wireless communications as they apply to the standards?
Yet companies like Qualcomm, InterDigital, Nokia, Ericsson, etc. have been collecting billions of dollars in revenues from wireless patents since the 1980s!!!
Click, poof, gone. I won't be responding to trolls anymore.
$1.20-1.50
LOVE THE CLOSE ON FRIDAY, AND EVEN MORE SO A/H
SHOWING MUCH STRENGTH THAT .67 WAS BOTTOM, AND ANYTHING UNDER A BUCK IS A NOW BRAINER!!
GET READY TO AVG UP ON YOUR SHORT POSITION/PUTS
Patent Infringement? What will Vringo do for revenue when they run out of people to sue??
Yes, the judgement is showing on their Accounts Receivable, if not in cash!
You cant patent a wireless standard!
Actually, you are wrong. If the patent applies to a common function, in a larger service field, then it is a worthless patent. Or, if technology is so Outdated that a company decides to sell it!
Yea...Probably not.
you are confused on so many things
1) wireless standards are not open source
2) the wireless/mobile patent portfolio has nothing to do with the patents invalidated in the Google appeal
3) judgements won't be refunded because there is nothing to refund - no payment has actually been made by Google
patent infringement is very different than filling out a Form 1040EZ and about a million times more complex
All those patents will likely be tossed, because this technology is open source!
Actually, it is - check your A.R.!
Patentinvestr- completely agree! An end Bancorp is certainly to come...
The monetization opportunity for VRNG's internet search/advertising patents was always going to dry up after Google - win or lose, tainted or not. They expire soon anyway.
The cost of the NOK mobile patent portfolio was $22 million + 35% of any revenues generated (but only after the first $22 million is recouped), so it's clearly worth more than $22 million. And there is a much longer shelf life to these patents as compared to the search patents.
These NOK patents are currently being litigated against ZTE (big opportunity) and Belkin (small opportunity). ADT/TYCO have already settled whereby VRNG has received over $1 million to date from the two combined.
Also, the NOK patents cover so many different areas of technology, it's really impossible to guess which patents VRNG will assert next and who they will go after next.
Just based on the NOK patent portfolio opportunity by itself, that's a very reasonable starting range you present. Value should be much higher if they can structure a good ZTE licensing deal.
basically
1.50 on a covering...
will probably be all over the place but expecting it one day next week
tradeawait, once upon a time there was a trial where experts and jurors and the United States Patent Office checked and double checked the patents are real and were infringed by GOOGLE, You also forget there are other court cases pending. There may be surprises on Monday for everyone. GLTA
If you read Judge Chen's dissention, it almost comes off as a warning to the other judges. Overruling juries and substantial evidence, as he puts it, is over the top.
I think Chen could be the catalyst for justice in getting the courts 14-17 judges together for en banc review.
His writing on the decision are almost a pitch for the en banc review.
IMO The 2 affirmative judges have gone beyond their scope. Its almost as if they were hand picked to help Google. I know that sounds conspiratorial but it isn't every day that appellate judges overrule juries.
Bottom line - this decision adds significant time but in my opinion will go to the Supreme court.
VRNG now needs to show the shareholders that the fight goes on.
