If the small chance of failure comes true, hopefully we will not have spent the full $20MM.
I'm not second-guessing the need to spend that money on that purpose, but it does show just how much of our future is tilted toward the Complete Vaccine (spending ~45% of our long-awaited funds for testing).
Also, I'm sure we are not creating a Complete Vaccine for the standard strain and others for the variants. So, if our Partners are not footing the whole bill for testing, it seems we should be able to negotiate better payment terms in the event of a success with the Complete Vaccine.
