I found this article describing a similar Quantum Dots production approach to QMC's. I hope QMC's IP is well protected. I would think even if they were to attempt to mass-produce QDs they would years, if not decades behind QMC.
On another note, this also validates QMCs approach to mass-produce QDs is technologically and scientifically sound and realistic which is always welcome.
