I am not angry with the FDA regarding clinical trials for cancer drugs, though when people reach stage 4 I believe they should have access to any drug they want - approved or in trials - to help prolong their life.

I do have issues with organizations such as the NIH which hasn't provided a penny to help advance Kevetrin - I know IPIX is a private company but when a drug shows such promise and so many lives a year are lost to cancer, the govt should keep an eye on such research and help move it along. Not all will agree with this, but the govt wastes most of the money they oversee so giving some to private firms that have great looking ideas shouldn't be dismissed. Hell, they gave billions for solar panels and wind mills and so far that went kablooey, so I guess if you make it a political issue you then have a chance to get govt funds.

As to the Amer Cancer Society, 20-35% of funds go to fundraising and about 60% go to salaries. They bring in over a billion a year and yet none of that has gone to a drug, Kevetrin, which has proven it is far and away safe and so far effective in an area of GREAT interest in cancer research, that of p53 activation.

I understand the dismay many may have of mixing charitable and private funds, but if it helps save many, many thousands of people than what is the problem?
