American Airlines was 37 cents at the end of 2013 and is now selling at around $50 a share. I guess those brokerage houses don't want anyone to make too much $.
After 56 years of trading stocks with a very good success rate I have learned to never take advice from an 'expert'. Go with your gut and for sure you will be far ahead of the field. I was told Papa John, BJ's, Netflix and Starbucks were stocks to stay away from when they first emerged but lucky for me I paid no attention to the'experts'. I even bought AA while they were near bankruptcy.
Go with your gut and ask no one for advice, especially the 'experts'.
If you always want to be 'safe' then stay with municipal bonds.
