Final note, naked shorting is like speeding. The SEC can patrol it, but only the market can stop it. Leaving your shares "unprotected" allows the mm's to freely borrow them from your account.

You have to also take into consideration that shares are shorted every single day. MM's have to make a market, working a stock up volume (long)/down volume (short). I've done plenty of homework here/there.
