Re: Big Tuna #812
Ohhh and I missed this one. The housing value. Who is the entity that is supposed to tell you if you can afford a home or not? Your Bank! These banks were tripping over themselves to give loans to anyone and everyone because the value of housing has always gone up. Then they turned around and repackaged them and sold them as complex securities. They had others refinancing and offered subprime because any loans brought thoysands in up front revenues to the bank as well as bonuses for those handling the loan. The government made the option available to banks, they didnt force them to take it to the utmost extreme.

So where does the blame fall? Of course some of it falls with the person, but how many average people know the first thing about what they may be able to afford? They put trust in the bank to not make them a customer if theres a risk it wouldnt work out....thats the common sense play. The majority of blame falls with those who abused the system and drove prices through the roof and banked billions on loans they KNEW were going to go bad, and that was BEFRE millions lost their jobs through NO FAULT OF THEIR OWN and could no longer afford their homes.....that just excaserbated the crisis.

And you want to blame the Demorats government? After Bushs government loosened rues and regulations across the board which allowed for this type of thing to happen....wow.
