Augusta's 100%-owned Rosemont deposit is located in Pima County, approximately 50 kilometres southeast of Tucson, Arizona.The project is expected to produce 221 million pounds of copper per year, which could account for as much as 10% of US copper output, making Rosemont the fourth largest copper mine in the US.
In addition to copper, Rosemont is expected to produce significant amounts of silver and molybdenum over its 20+ year mine life. As of January 2009, Rosemont has proven and probable mineral reserves containing 546 million tons grading 0.45% copper, 0.015%molybdenum and 0.12 ounces per ton silver in sulphide ore, and an additional 70 million tons at 0.17% copper in oxide ore. Production is projected to commence in 2014.

TUCSON, Ariz.--(ENEWSPF)--April 25 - The Center for Biological Diversity filed a formal notice of intent to sue the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service today for the agency’s failure to make a listing decision on a petition to protect Coleman’s coralroot, an extremely rare purple orchid found in the footprint of a proposed copper mine outside Tucson.
The lush riparian vegetative community along the creek accommodates a great number of wildlife species that include mammals, birds, fish, reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates. Visitors should watch for lowland leopard frog, checkered gartersnake, common kingsnake, Gila topminnow, yellow-billed cuckoo, northern beardless-tyrannulet, summer tanager, blue grosbeak, gray and Cooper’s hawks, and mule deer.
