Students 2 Science Inaugurates Apollo Technology Center

Students 2 Science (S2S), a renowned non-profit organization focused on STEM education, recently celebrated the grand opening of the Apollo Technology Center. This new center is set to provide invaluable learning opportunities for students eager to dive into the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Located at One Apollo Drive, the Apollo Technology Center aims to bolster STEM accessibility across various age groups. From elementary school students to high school seniors, the center encompasses cutting-edge laboratory equipment and offers a plethora of hands-on experiences. This initiative marks a significant milestone in enriching STEM education in the region.

The facility features dedicated lab spaces for several unique programs including the Improving Student Affinity and Aptitude for Careers in STEM (ISAAC) program catering to grades 3-5. Furthermore, a state-of-the-art production studio is designed for the expanded Virtual Lab (V-Lab) Program serving grades 3-12. Middle school students will also benefit from the new STEM ISAAC Days focused on grades 6-8, while high schoolers will engage through Career ISAAC Days designed for grades 9-12. Additionally, a STEM Summer Camp will launch in the summer of the following year, promising even more opportunities for learning.

Paul A. Winslow, President and Co-Founder of Students 2 Science, expressed his enthusiasm about the project saying, "This center represents a collaborative effort from our community. The generosity of our supporters has made it possible to bring this vision to life. We are excited to impact over 100,000 students annually with our innovative programs." This collective effort highlights the importance of community involvement in educational initiatives.

The Apollo Technology Center goes beyond traditional classroom settings, offering transformative learning experiences that foster creativity and imagination. Notably, prominent STEM corporations have demonstrated ongoing support for S2S, further establishing the importance of such educational initiatives.

Contributions from Key Partners

The success of the Apollo Technology Center is due in no small part to the contributions of various partners. For instance, Thermo Fisher Scientific, a leader in scientific instrumentation, has played a pivotal role by sponsoring the ISAAC Laboratories which include eight specialized labs designed to enhance student learning.

Additionally, the PSEG Foundation has contributed by supporting the development of new curriculum aimed at expanding offerings from grades 3-6. Their involvement reflects a strong commitment to enhancing educational outcomes for young learners.

Sanofi's sponsorship of the Sanofi Workforce Training & Development Lab showcases the center’s dedication to bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, equipping students and community members with relevant experiences reflecting the real-world STEM landscape.

Vision for the Future

According to Karnel Walker, Board Chair of the S2S Board of Trustees, "The Apollo Technology Center signifies a bright future for STEM education. It stands as a beacon of opportunity in our community and integrates real labs, mentoring, and clear career pathways, essential for shaping New Jersey's workforce. We are thrilled to welcome students to explore and learn in this innovative space." This ambition exemplifies the center's commitment to driving positive change in education.
