Start the Tweets! These are large prestigious medical organizations that want legalization and implementation of medical marijuana. They should be tweeted to the work that SK3 (Medical Greens) is doing in this area in spite of the obstacles.

The story: The well-known and highly repected Kevin Allyn -- former president of King World Productions,  a famous Hollywood businessman, and a devoted humanitarian -- now heads up a fledgling public company called SK3 Group (subsidiary Medical Greens). Medical Greens is both managing and consulting for medical marijuana collectives in California in order to help them bring the powerful medicinal properties of cannabis to suffering patients despite a challenging legal environment that can thwart this worthy goal. Allyn's mission links to your mission, as well. That is, healing and alleviating symptoms and pain.

“We will also advocate for a single standard of enforcement allowing appropriate access to the medication a patient needs in states where medical cannabis is currently determined to be legal. CNA supports all efforts to ensure the availablity of this medication that provides a safe, effective, therapeutic, and uniform delivery method and system.”

With regard to cannabis used recreationally, there is a need for oversight and quality control, just as there is with alcohol, tobacco, and food products. Such oversight and quality control, aimed at protecting personal and public health, can be accomplished with legalization and regulation at both the federal and state levels. Thus far, the criminalization of cannabis has proven to be a failed public health policy for several reasons.”

The evidence demonstrates a connection between therapeutic use of marijuana and symptom relief. The American Nurses Association actively supports patients' rights to legally and safely utilize marijuana for symptom management and health care practitioners' efforts to promote quality of life for patients needing such therapy.”

ACP strongly supports exemption from federal criminal prosecution; civil liability; or professional sanctioning, such as loss of licensure or credentialing, for physicians who prescribe or dispense medical marijuana in accordance with state law. Similarly, ACP strongly urges protection from criminal or civil penalties for patients who use medical marijuana as permitted under state laws.”

“The National Association of People with AIDS (NAPWA) supports, along with the scientific and medical community, efforts to make Cannabis, also known as marijuana, legally accessibly as medical treatment for people living with HIV and other lifethreatening diseases. Recently, a handful of states have legalized the usage of this drug for medical uses, all under the guide of a physician. We strongly support these initiatives.”

National Association of People with AIDS

“Clinical experience and a growing body of medical research confirm that for a small but significant number of patients, marijuana serves as the only effective medicine for suppressing nausea, stimulating appetite, or relieving pain. Indeed, the scientific literature -- and the highly respected research panels from the United States and Great Britain -- make clear that there is widespread agreement that cannabis is effective in alleviating the symptoms of many patients who have not obtained relief from conventional treatments.”

Our American Medical Association (AMA) urges that marijuana's status as a federal Schedule I controlled substance be reviewed with the goal of facilitating the conduct of clinical research and development of cannabinoid-based medicines.”

It is the position of the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care that healthcare personnel (HCP) should not be threatened, penalized, or otherwise intimidated for discussing and/or recommending the medicinal use of marijuana, and, individuals should not be prosecuted for medicinal use of marijuana.”

“[The APHA] encourages research of the therapeutic properties of various cannabinoids and combinations of cannabinoids, and...urges the Administration and Congress to move expeditiously to make cannabis available as a legal medicine.”

The New York State Nurses Association encourages elimination of barriers to the use of medicinal marijuana. When legalized, nurses will be allowed to advocate for patient use of marijuana for medicinal purposes. NYSNA joins the growing number of state nursing associations to support the therapeutic use of marijuana.”

“AIDS Action supports legislation that would modify current Massachusetts law to provide legal protection for seriously ill patients - such as those with HIV/AIDS, cancer, multiple sclerosis and other debilitating conditions - who use marijuana under the recommendation of a doctor.”

For certain persons the medical use of marijuana can literally mean the difference between life and death. At a minimum, marijuana provides some seriously ill patients the gift of relative health and the ability to function as productive members of society.”
Lymphoma Foundation of America

“We support state and federal legislation not only to remove criminal penalties associated with medical marijuana, but further to exclude marijuana/cannabis from classification as a Schedule I drug.”
