Seel, I have a friend with Crohn's Disease and have informed him of the possible implications for new treatments as a result of Prurisol and some other drug working as a combo.  Of course, he is quite interested as to length of time to bring something to trial for such treatment.

Once Prurisol finishes Ph1 and somebody wants to pair it with another FDA approved drug, could the tests be run on humans immediately or would you have to put the combo thru Ph1 trial of it's own?  Would you expect Prurisol to be run in trials throughout the country/world at various (and many) research center/college/hospital/whatever that specializes in research of a particular AI ailment?  I sure hope some of these combo drugs that show promise aren't relegated to 8-10 yrs or so to be able to be dispensed to willing patients.

What is the minimum time you would  expect to see Prurisol teamed up with a number drugs for treatment of various autoimmune problems as in actually giving doses in a trial to humans?  I know in his case he would volunteer for anything relating to a possible cure or easing of his condition.

My neighbor across the street played on the Senior golf tour and the game is the most important area of his life.  He had a stroke Monday and it doesn't look good, his entire left side is shut down almost completely, though he can talk.  If he doesn't improve, I don't see him seeing any quality of life down the road if he needs someone to assist him in everything.  His poor wife will become a permanent caretaker and she too will have little to no quality of life.  Do you see people in the medical community that would approve of someone, fully mature, to be able to end their own life with a dose of something for instant death, or do they all mostly agree that preserving life (even though it is a living death) is the proper course to take?  I know I would want death over what it appears he is facing; same goes for Alzheimers, quadriplegic, and other conditions in my view.  I know this is a touchy and extremely emotional topic for everyone, just wondering if the medical profession is 100% against it or there is a good faction that would endorse letting mentally competent, fully mature patients with conditions that make life hard to unbearable the right to be allowed to say "enough is enough, let me die with dignity".

I am not putting you on the spot and asking for your opinion as you may prefer to keep that private, just wondering what you have heard over the years as to this topic from the medical perspective.  Will be interesting seeing as you are dealing many times with people teetering on the edge of death with their cancer conditions and I am sure many of them have expressed opinions of what I speak.
