As chief financial officer, John A. Chi oversees all corporate accounting and financial management functions of Pacer Corporation.
Chi has served as CFO of the Pacer system since Pacer?s inception and has managed the successful financial restructure of all of Pacer?s acquired facilities. Prior to joining the company, Chi was the manager of federal taxation at AutoNation, Inc., where he supervised the compliance of federal and state tax returns for 373 corporations and 13 partnerships, while implementing various tax strategies, including those related to mergers and acquisitions, which resulted in substantial tax savings. He previously served as director of federal taxation at Gerald Stevens, Inc., where he oversaw the tax department and performed due diligence on 15 acquisitions, while evaluating the impact of numerous capital restructurings.
Chi?s experience also includes nearly five years as a tax accountant for such prestigious firms as Ernst & Young LLP and Price Waterhouse LLP, for which he researched various tax issues and participated in preparing outsourcing projects commissioned by several Fortune 500 companies. He also designed and implemented a national tax preparation strategy to standardize the tax compliance process for the consolidated income tax returns of dozens of clients.
While at LNR Property Corporation, he oversaw the compliance of federal and state tax returns for 200 corporations, five limited liability companies, and fifteen partnerships.
Chi holds a bachelor of science degree in accounting and finance from New York University, and is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Maryland
