BIRMINGHAM, AL--(Marketwired - Jun 24, 2013) - Summer camp isn't just for kids anymore. At the Renaissance Birmingham Ross Bridge Golf Resort & Spa, the concept has been updated to apply to couples and families who want the best of the camp experience -- biking, sculpting, golfing and even the occasional massage -- and none of the bad (bug spray and cold showers). This version is known as Camp Kilt, and it's revitalizing everyone's summer vacation.
Drawing on the Hoover, Alabama hotel's Scottish influences, Camp Kilt takes a hearty approach to recreation. The complimentary camp features an action-packed schedule that changes weekly, so guests enjoy a variety of options. Sunrise Stretching & Yoga, for example, may appeal to some, while others can opt for a pastry class. Golf and tennis clinics are also available, and kids of every age (including those at heart) will enjoy activities like poolside hula-hoop contests and horseshoe tosses. Some classes are led by local experts, and others are helmed by Ross Bridge recreation team members, but all of them enhance the experiences of guests at these Birmingham accommodations .
Even business travelers can get in on the fun. (Why not squeeze in a lobby massage before the day's conference?) The resort is ranked sixth among Renaissance properties across the country for meetings, but with 248 rooms, 11 suites, nine meeting rooms, a Robert Trent Jones-designed golf course and a 12,000-square-foot spa, the resort appeals to vacationers and business travelers alike. Should guests want to see the town, the hotel is conveniently located near a number of attractions like Samford University, Aldridge Gardens and the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute. This hotel in Birmingham with restaurant options galore caters to all, as there are four onsite restaurants to choose from, while guests can also easily head into town to see what culinary options await in Birmingham.
Although there is plenty to see and do at the resort and in the surrounding area, Camp Kilt will only be available until Labor Day (September 2, 2013), so travelers are encouraged to book their trip soon!
About the Renaissance Birmingham Ross Bridge Golf Resort & Spa Surrounded by majestic woodlands and scenic lakes, the AAA Four Diamond Renaissance Birmingham Ross Bridge Golf Resort & Spa is a retreat like no other. Within the 248 rooms and 11 suites, guests will find oversized bathrooms, private balconies and sylvan views. Outside their rooms, a Robert Trent Jones-designed golf course is the third longest in the world and even more rewarding to play, while the 12,000-square-foot European spa features a menu of treatments that promises rest and relaxation. An indoor pool, outdoor pool, whirlpool and children's pool complement the resort's health club and the variety of outdoor pursuits available, like tennis, volleyball and a biking/jogging trail. Customized, creative menus enhance conferences and special events, while the surrounding splendor lends an inimitable charm that makes every gathering memorable. The resort puts its culinary prowess to work in four different restaurants as well. The critically acclaimed Brock's pairs locally grown produce with beef and seafood in a tempting tapas menu. The Clubhouse Restaurant serves up classic American fare like burgers and salads, while JT's in the lobby keeps things light with specialty martinis and live music. The Coffee Shop, meanwhile, gets visitors' days started on the right foot.
