Interesting post. You sure make me think. I remember last fall when I first heard about telematics-the ability to regulate the flow of hydrogen on the fly. There are a lot of varied driving conditions for OTR trucking. PaulQ alluded to some of the variables-drivers, loads, temperature and said more testing and improvement needed to be done. I began wondering then, why would a company buy thousands of units for their trucks if a better unit was close to being available? Around January, PaulQ said that the telematics unit would probably be finished in the second quarter. That is why I didn't expect fleet sales until May/June when I expected the new units to be available. Just take two drivers. One drives like a bat out of you know where. The other drives conservatively. I can believe the standard unit would not work as well for both. But take a unit that can adjust on the fly.......However, take a constant rpm device like a generator and you don't need telematics. So, is the emphasis on generators because the telematics units are not finished yet? I don't see it so much as fresh air and hot air as pieces of the puzzle or dots to connect. No two people look at the same thing and have the same take. That is why a group is important. And we have a very good group on this board, just not enough dots to connect to make sense of it all. Personal opinion-I don't think Mr. Coats is sending out people to give us info. I think they are doing it on their own. Just as some posters who visited HTI in March shared some things on their own. Where are we on this journey? I really thank the posters, PaulQ and carndog for giving us some dots to connect. My best to you, Jim
