Good thought. It's a great lesson, too. The farther you get away from the person the story is about, the farther you get away from the truth. When I hear something about someone I know, I have learned to ask, how do you know that? If they have not spoken directly to the person involved, it is discounted. Even then, I want to talk to my friend directly. So when someone shows up here and says, "Hey I've got some really juicy dirt." My first question is, how do you know that? If its a pitiful answer,"Well, if you weren't so dumb and able to figure some things out, you would know. " I then know it is not credible but a person with an axe to grind. Some have bigger axes than others. Clouds without rain. It is not other people that define me. If someone does something I consider unkind and return unkindness to them, I am letting someone else run my life. Little kids do that. The heroes of the world rose above little things. Abraham Lincoln instructed his generals, when the southern armies surrender, show them respect. With malice towards none. Heroes are remembered. Little people who cannot forgive and cannot rule their emotions are forgotton. And life gives us plenty of opportunities to choose. My best to you, Jim
