SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - Apr 18, 2013) - Michael Birch's idea lab, The Monkey Inferno, debuted its first iPhone app ' Beer Hunt ' at DEMO Mobile 2013 on April 17th.
Beer Hunt is a social app that caters to the rapidly growing craft beer market. The app centers around beer check-ins, and enables the tracking and discovery of new beers.
Similar to Foursquare's place check-ins, the app rewards beer check-ins with points or badges that highlight the beer's style, location, and rarity. In the future, users will be able to translate their points into exclusive deals and offers from breweries and local pubs.
The app also compiles data from each user's beer check-ins to generate personal infographic of the user's drink history in a feature called the "drink-o-graphic." "We hand-picked Beer Hunt for DEMO Mobile 2013 because it shows how great design and creativity can come together to enhance a common experience, in this case, drinking a beer," said DEMO Executive Producer Erick Schonfeld.
The app, born out of a Monkey Inferno hack-a-thon, vows to stay simple in its functionality. "Technology can sometimes overcomplicate things. Beer is inherently fun and social and we want to keep with that. Afterall, we couldn't look ourselves in the mirror if we made an app that ruined the experience of having a beer," commented The Monkey Inferno's CEO, Shaan Puri.
