Quote:Why doesn't a Big Pharma CO come in and scoop up 700 million shares at this price or more when the price starts going up. For $175M-1B, they could own about 50% of the company, fill the BOD with their people and control LL once it goes on the market with the profits and more going directly to them.
That seems a lot cheaper than paying anywhere from $10-50 Billion once LL gets better data, FDA approval etc.
FOMO would destroy that plan fairly quickly. Even 5 million shares a day of steady buying pressure could quadruple the share price within two weeks. Even before that non-investors are going to realize that someone's trying to scoop up large chunks of shares. There will be speculation on whether a "large net worth" individual or BP is buying and they'll think it's because someone has inside info. That's when the stock really takes off. There would be a very little chance they could pick up a majority of shares for $1 billion. If I remember correctly there would also be a two year block on using those shares for voting. Even if they got 50% of the shares then it would still mean buying out the other 50% or handing over shares of the BP to the other investors to capture 100% of the profit.
That all would be based on not having confirmation of prior data from the trial. There may be some scientists at the BP that realize the importance of leronlimab, the bean-counters certainly wouldn't. BPs have gotten burned so many times they're going to be a little risk adverse.
The data from completed trials/studies are what will catch their attention. I can guarantee you BPs will come in with a low-ball offer initially that will not take into account the true potential of leronlimab. At that point it will take shareholders standing firm to maximize their profit.
