Quote:Basically, it transforms the tumor microenvironment in multiple ways that make it harder for the tumor to thrive and easier for immunotherapy to attack.
ICIs aren't attacking, they're limiting an impediment to an attack. It doesn't change the role of chemotherapy which is independent of the immune environment. Leronlimab itself is initiating the immune systems attack by switching the tumor environment from an M2 macrophage tumor protectant environment to an M1 macrophage tumor killing environment. Those M1 natural killer T-cells are what destroys metastatic cells and tumor cells when PD-L1 is reduced. It would be interesting to find out any difference in effect (if any) between leronlimab/PD-L1 inhibitor vs. leronlimab/PD-L1 inhibitor/chemotherapy.
