Sister Shelle anchored at False Pass, Alaska

This position Wednesday morning 7-31-2024 around 11 am CDT . The "Sister Shelle" put in at False Pass , a small fishing village, with marine services and not a lot else. They've been there I believe two nights and as with all the extended stops - don't know if it's for fuel, crew rest, provisions or what.

The main passage from the Pacific to the Bering sea is farther southwest down the Aleutian chain but some boats apparently use False Pass .I just verified the boat is still docked at False Pass as of 1100 hours Wednesday CDT or 1600 ZULU. So this is another long downtime and there's not much do to in False Pass- very small from what I find. Rand R? Repairs? Fuel? As always, don't know.

The bullseye in both panels shows the position of the boat. Can't know yet if they will cross the Bering sea on a direct course or stay along the coast for services en route.
Shows to be about 800 nautical miles on the most direct route and at 8 knots day and night that's 4 days sailing. Coastwise steaming adds miles and time and fuel burn. This month and half long journey is burning money.

Does the clan know what they're doing in this latest of many attempts to grab the brass ring?
...

Marine forecast for the Bearing Sea

https://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/data/Forecasts/FZAK62.PAFC.html

The south winds to 25 kts will help the speed. The seas of up to 10 feet will make for plenty of ship's motion. Not sure how the catamaran will handle that sea state but I'd guess it'll be a fairly rough ride
