I heard an Asian female scientist from MIT speaking on an NPR story of a 40 Hz gamma frequency light stimulation to “pick up the trash” a few years ago, Fall 2021 I think. I’ve wanted to post about her story (may have), but on its face seems a little quacky. Believe me, she was surprised as well that they saw the results they did in the mice. This 2024 publication seems to confirm some of those findings.
“The glymphatic system, which is essentially the drainage entity for the brain and increases in fluid volume while dreaming is necessary for cleansing metabolic products. Kind of like taking your brain through the car wash at night. Any impedance of this mechanism, which would occur from immune mediated inflammation, would allow for the buildup of precursors and proteins related to amyloid.
