This cascade of events leading to neural cell fusion with other neurons or glial cells is kicked off with viral epitope binding to the ace2 receptor, which implies if Leronlimab is leveraged to tip the balance in this process would have to be given very early.

Not necessarily. I would bet that neuronal cell fusion would lead to an earlier death of those fused cells. When I was looking at epilepsy I ran across a paper that hypothesized that CCCR5 downregulation would increase neuronal cell regeneration. Then I tracked down possible pathways that would induce that.

I tracked down that paper again -

Quote:
Relationship Between the Chemokine Receptor CCR5 and Microglia in Neurological Disorders: Consequences of Targeting CCR5 on Neuroinflammation, Neuronal Death and Regeneration in a Model of Epilepsy

In conclusion, our data demonstrate the centrality of
CCR5 and its ligands in mediating injury-induced
inflammation, and suggest that decreasing levels of CCR5
may have as its consequences neuroprotection and enhanced
neuroregeneration.
