I happen to know it is not an excuse.  They company stated they could provide the parts by a certain date - they did not.  To fabricate a new part from scratch at that point was not an option.  Whether they decide to go after them for loses is not the issue - being late with the parts is.   For you to speculate that is was an excuse is completely inaccurate.
