if the time is longer than the movement of geological layers in those strata, it seems logical that an oil field and any gas field devolving from the same layer may be separate by some distance on the earths surface-as do the hawaiian islands result from a magma hot spot - the islands and undersurface mountains spreading out 1000's of miles on the surface from one magma hotspot- though this hotspot is deeper than oil or gas fields
