Vice President Kamala Harris ignored a question Friday morning about migrants being dropped off in front of her Naval Observatory residence the day before.
Harris was hosting South African President Cyril Ramaphosa for breakfast before he held a bilateral meeting with President Joe Biden at the White House.
'What was your reaction to the buses arriving yesterday?' a reported asked
Later, her husband second gentleman Doug Emhoff was asked about the busload of migrants brought to D.C. by the order of Texas Gov. Greg Abbott
'I think it was shameful. These are human beings. These are people.
Texas' Republican Gov. Greg Abbott sent two busloads of migrants to Harris' doorstep on Thursday after the vice president claimed the border was 'secure.'
'VP Harris claims our border is 'secure' & denies the crisis,' Abbott tweeted, claiming responsibility for the move. 'We're sending migrants to her backyard to call on the Biden Administration to do its job & secure the border.'
She refused to answer a similar question about the migrants after delivering remarks at the White House Thursday.
On Friday, Harris' husband, second gentleman Doug Emhoff visited a D.C. vaccination clinic to receive a COVID booster.
'And we have so-called leaders in this country who rather than focusing on what's good for the public within their own states they're using people as pawns for a political stunt,' Emhoff continued. 'I think that it's shameful,' he said again.
At the White House briefing Friday, press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre expressed fury that DeSantis and Abbott would engage in these political stunts - but said she had no calls to read out when asked if the administration had asked the Republican governors to stop.
