Thanks for posting craigakess.
This article hit a nerve- as a dear friend has been on Enhertu for a while. It has been difficult to watch the system in play with this one- all the while knowing about leronlimab. (Tried a while back to get her into the LL basket trial- to no avail.)
Left a comment to the article:
Have a friend taking Enhertu. It appears to have helped her live longer and she is trying to play the game.
There are costs- serious lung issues and lots of hands out for big money (including insurance companies, docs, pharmaceuticals, etc.).
Insurance companies- even though she is on disability - provide for a while then take any opportunity they can make up to drop her coverage just after she reaches the max out of pocket. Even with 'good' insurance- she has had to come up with the 12K every 3 weeks a few times herself while the doc repeats she MUST have her treatment but denies it if there is no assurance of payment.
Her 5 year wait for medicare- a huge farce in itself- is almost over ... if she can make it.
So, so many problems with the health care system. Not to mention that there are potentially better treatments- more effective, safer, cheaper- in the long, long approval process from smaller companies (most notably leronlimab) that are cast to the side.
