I wouldn't recommend that.  Most of those accounts have hundreds of thousands of fake twitter followers.  I know this because I have paid for 100k twitter followers on 2 separate account.  It costs about $150 for this.

The bad is that you rarely keep all of your followers, I dropped about 40% in both accounts.

The good, is that having more followers allows your posts to be in the top tweets section.  When you search a term or click a hashtag that is trending, your tweet will be in the first list.  If you have less followers your posts will show up in the All tweets list.  I have come to realize there is no advantage to having hundreds of thousands of followers, because if you tweet something that is trending, it is likely that other top twitter accounts are tweeting about that topic, thus your post gets pushed further down the list.
