Serious and critical disease lag covid infection by 2-3 weeks. Infections the first week of January were ~30K daily, substantially increased from 7k daily the third weeks of December. ICU admissions have tripled since the start of January.
Cases have since increased a further five-fold,arguing that the critical COVID cases will soon fill if not overwhelm ICU capacity.
It is nearly unthinkable that A. Einstein will be unable to enroll sufficient patients with this wave of infection.
