As any real scientist would tell you: absolutely predictable. No vaccine we could make in the window needed would stop this pathogen alone. It would require coordinated and *strictly adhered to* preventative behavioral modifications (PPE, contact tracing, border control).. plus vaccination.
Doing otherwise is like taking The Pill "most of the time". Don't be surprised when you end up pregnant. Don't be surprised when you change nothing to stop this pandemic, and it worsens.
The vaccines are supposed to make it last longer.. it's supposed to lower the amount of people clogging ICUs at the same time, like we've seen in India and Brazil.. they worked for a while. Like vaccines against this family of viruses do.. they work for a little while until the virus mutates, then they don't. Again, predictable.
These vaccines and their subsequent "boosters" are for a wild type Wuhan strain going on 2 years old now. They're going to do exactly Jack and Shit by the end of this winter, imo. Development on Spike MABs and vaccines for the Delta variant should already have been in development.. it's almost a guarantee at this point that the next serious VOC (variant of concern) will be a descendant of Delta..
Meanwhile, the reason vaccinated areas are now hotspots is a combination of the viral escape / mutation capabilities and people, ignorant of what's necessary and what's at stake, not taking all the other precautions that need to be taken.
