Is there only one drug for cancer? Is there only o

I have often said here that I think the reason Alzheimer's drugs sometimes help some people but not enough to reach statistical significance -- is that lots of diseases with the same symptoms but different causes are being lumped together as "Alzheimers."
Let's say you have back pain. Did you strain a muscle, or tear a ligament, or break a vertebra, or is it because you have kidney failure? Will one drug treat the cause of your "back pain"?
Let's hope that LOTS of drugs are found to be useful in treating dementia -- because a patient who is not helped by one drug is going to need other treatment options.
I feel very optimistic about AVXL's drug -- but what if someone has dementia from a different cause and needs a different treatment? Let's hope that someday EVERY patient with dementia can be helped.
