We had last scanned this area with the SeaSearcher back before completing the metal discriminator integration to clarify the questions we have received. While the SeaSearcher was last undergoing upgrades, the Discovery team was still out taking advantage of the good days by scanning with our handheld metal detectors, which cannot discriminate between metal types. We will revisit this area, but next, with the metal discriminator outfitted SeaSearcher.
As jumbled as some of this is, the message is there. And goes along with a previous post on the 28th:

I think it would have been good if the update had clearly stated that this target was not found via the SeaSearcher with the metal interrogator functioning.
I think what they were implying is that it was found with a previous version of the SeaSearcher that only had the imaging part working. So the SS identified several targets (images only) and this item was found while going after those images.
Had the metal interrogator part of the SeaSearcher been used to scan this target, then yes, they would have known it was brass, not gold. But it was being upgraded and not available to scan at the time.
No longer going after targets unless they were identified with the SeaSearcher's metal discriminator as worthwhile targets.
Let's do this!
