Anyone can nominate anyone, and based on a bit of recon - it seems as if they then use an 'award' teaser to invite you and your money to their conference.
After several failed attempts to contact the people that run the 'Black Enterprise Top 100' - my guess is that THEY also operate in very much the same fashion. It seems as if it is an advertorial:
'Tell us what you do and pay us to be on the list.'
If real industry people knew exactly what Doc was up to - then nothing would be a secret. His lips wouldn't be sealed and none of us would be struggling to connect dots that always seem out of reach.
I'm in it 'til the bitter end, but with each passing day, this looks more and more like a bunch of 'smoke/mirrors' than the assembly of a wide-reaching vertically integrated conglomerate.
The plain truth is that with so many people involved - secrets wouldn't stay secrets.
The only thing I can't wrap my head around is why a guy like JHB would want to have his name even remotely associated with any of this.
