Sorry to the board for the angst and any confusion
Post# of 36536
I started my post last night by saying "I'm sure we'll all live while we wait longer..." and that is true.
But I respectfully say let's not be so quick to compare this case to the previous times of "coming days", etc. This isn't a "damned if you do and damned if you don't" situation. This is a case of making a concrete statement to a group of people who have no choice but to believe you, yet you know you're not going to be able to follow through for them.
A small part of my distress is that this time a very specific time frame was given repeatedly and intentionally on a conference call, culminating with the final minute including:
"I'd just like to add that over the next seven to ten days on our last test we will have, we will alert everybody to that final result which will give us what we believe is a complete vaccine"... Say it with me: We will alert everybody. Seven to ten days. and,
"Be on the lookout in the next week to ten days for our results."
Where's the grey area here?
But what really bothers me is that, as that time frame expires, we are called "nuts" by the person who created and emphasized that very specific time frame explicitly because we put credence in the statement of that time frame and actually thought there was a chance we would be informed.
Further still, a list of the many things that still need to be accomplished before that original promise can be fullfulled is offered as incredulous proof of our insanity for believing. Yet, of course, even though this list is offered with the implied "How could I possibly have done all this and told you in 7-10 days?!", no further time frame is offered, leaving one to think it could easily be many weeks. How could I possibly think otherwise? I can only go on the information I have.
Which leads me to possibly the biggest issue. Maybe this is all public information. But when this first surfaced yesterday, two of us in no uncertain terms said that this information should be for Joe to present, and it had no place being disclosed on the board by a poster. So the original recipient further communicated with Joe to express that sentiment constructively.
But instead of realizing that this was inappropriate at best and circling the wagons to put out the information in a complete and professional manner, Joe chose to copy and paste the same texts to the next person so they could spread the word.
Frankly, I'm still beside myself.
I'm not very religious. But Good God, strike me down as "nuts" for thinking that a discrete statement made repeatedly by a person in possession of information that is dear to me should be trusted. And pox on me for my attitude at thinking this is an OTC way to handle this situation.
Yes, these are exciting times. And we are still as close as we've EVER been to success, which is hopefully just around the corner.
But we deserve better.
See you all later. I'm going to disappear for a while.
