100 patients total genotyped.
20% of mild/moderate covid patients are heterozygous for delta32.
25% of covid long haulers are heterozygous for delta32.
4% of covid severe/critical are heterozygous for delta32.
No homozygotes so far.
I run some "personal" statistics on these results. 100 patients is already a good group to draw conclusions.
The problem is, as you correctly point out that heterozygous percentage for USA should be lower.
A study run in USA (six cities) with 2996 individuals had reported 12.9% heterozygous and 1.3% homozygous
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/11511825/
Therefore, either being heterozygous increases the possibility of contracting mild to moderate COVID (as one would expect the same percentage as the general population), or the sampling space is not large enough with skewed data.
However, something very important comes out of this data as well: of the patients studied (with COVID) ONLY 4% that progressed to severe and critical were heterozygous !!!
What is the probability of this happening ???
If we assume independent groups and ask ourselves: "what is the probability to have 20% from a group Mild-Moderate and 4% from the same group (having contracted COVID) Severe-Critical" both being heterozygous???
The p-value is: 0.000328
In lay terms: being delta-32 heterozygous "protects" the patients from reaching severe-critical COVID (remember, ALL have COVID, assuming all are receiving same treatment(s) )
And, in fairness: being delta-32 heterozygous almost "doubles" the possibility of contracting mild-moderate COVID
All of the above is based in limited results from Dr. Patterson study (small group). I am making lots of assumptions (i.e. number of heterozygous people in USA, group independence) here but I find it interesting nevertheless.
Can't wait for the 1000 patient results which will give a more definite answer.
If the above is true, being Deta-32 heterozygous, and by extension, being injected with Vyrologix (partially blocking the receptors) should help in Severe-Critical cases.
imo of course.
