Havasu, It may be splitting of hairs, but CCR5

It may be splitting of hairs, but CCR5 delta 32, is a deletion of 32 base pairs in the gene for the CCR5 receptor, resulting in a non functional receptor.
Heterozygous individuals, with one normal and one d32 gene, produce only half of their CCR5 receptors functioning properly.
The DNA exists in each gene variant, just nonfunctional in D32. It’s like a recipe missing a key ingredient. The food (or protein) is still made, just improperly.
