Yes that clears the way for Pence but just don't see Pence pulling the cord. There are many more reasons not to pull the cord than to do it to it. I also don't believe he wishes to be VP another 4 years with Trump. That is what I thinking will happen. In the republic world.... hell yeah Pence should nail Biden to the wall but just don't see enough power backing Pence and Trump has burnt so many bridges why should Pence be given the nuclear bomb when Trump is the only one that has the codes. So if this was football what happens to Pence if he wins the football game will Trump push him aside and claim it was all his doings?
