of the south a few times when I was real young. Growing up in Illinois everything revolved around politics and religion. Majority was Catholic. I grew up in the RLDS faith (Mormon) not by choice I guess. My mother was Cumberland Presbyterian so not even the Presbyterian Church in town was a fit for her. My father's family planted Methodist Church's however somehow my grandmother on my dad side got involved with the Mormon and RLDS church. He was always away working. My grandmother would take my sister and I. When she past a church member started taking us. Town was Nauvoo, Ill a mecca for the Mormon Church in Salt Lake City. My grandfather found the Prophets hidden grave in Nauvoo. Once Mormon always Mormon or so they say. My Town also had a Catholic's Girl Academy. There were about 200 girls that would come in every year from all over the world. Mostly, Catholic world leader's or MOB personalities hiding there kids. So I kind of had a different exposure than most culturally.
Myself I was just a kid and did my thing...however the political and religious divides were palatable and the Roman Catholics tried to control everything. Main reason was to keep the Mormon's out from Salt Lake City and them from rebuilding the Temple. That project was complete after I left in 1982.
