This isn't political, it's scientific. "Who is running the show" was not a really a factor with ebola. Ebola is not an illness like Covid, as Covid can infect people far more easily given where it comes from and how frequently the general public travels to those countries. To the best of my knowledge, the countries where ebola was an issue are not countries that people are traveling to and from with the frequency of those where Covid is prevalent. Also, you can only spread ebola if you have symptoms. Covid can be spread by those who are asymptomatic.
From the CDC: Ebola can spread when people come into contact with infected blood or body fluids. Ebola poses little risk to travelers or the general public who have not cared for or been in close contact (within 3 feet or 1 meter) with someone sick with Ebola.
