Covid mutation 614G: Early Coronavirus Mutation Made It Harder to Stop, Evidence Suggests - The New York Times (nytimes.com)
Does anyone know if the current mRNA vaccines are variant (mutation) specific? With the world running rampant with 500,000+ new cases daily, does anyone know how many Covid variations presently exist? We know that the Covid-19 cousin, the common flu, needs an annual vaccine update for the most prevalent strain that currently exists. What happens now with this flu season if/when Covid-19 and the Flu inhabit the same body at the same time. Will they ignore each other or conspire together like a mad scientist to create a new abomination?
I hope these ramblings are nothing more than concept pitch for a low budget syfy horror flick. But with the current pace of a half million new daily cases, by the time the mRNA vaccine is readily available to the world’s general public, it may be like throwing sandbags on top of the walkway of a crumbling dam.
Sorry for the gloom and doom. Point is, now is the time to be cautious. Be smart, be safe everyone.
