I would like to put our world current situation into perspective. In the 1950s the world was experiencing a severe polio epidemic. Going against the leading scientists of the time, Jonas Salk ( a fellow alumnus of CCNY) used killed virus to create a successful and arguably to this day the best vaccine against polio. He was awarded a Nobel Prize. He never patented the vaccine. He gave it as a gift to the world. I don't think he ever had to worry about his finances after that. In 1960, because of the thalidomide, scare JFK gave the FDA an increased mandate to regulate pharmaceuticals. And regulate they have with mostly negative results. They have taken control of the health and medical practices in this country to a degree nobody ( especially JFK ) could ever have imagined. If the FDA had the power to do so they would have put him in jail to prevent the use of his vaccine He injected a human subject (himself first) to ascertain its safety) without their permission. What kind of foolish science that was.
Here we are today. Dr NP, Dr P, and Dr L do not rise to the level of Dr Salk, but they can come close. We live in a different world today. It takes big money to create a drug for toenail fungus, much less a drug that can cure what ails you.
