I think the SEC doesn't have time to monitor every stock and its trading activity, so without you notifying them of the patterns related to stock board posting, these folks might have slipped away once again. However, now that you have made the SEC aware of these irregularities, I am sure they will pursue it and I would not want to be in the shoes of someone who posted to affect the stock price, and then took advantage of it with their trading knowing what their post would do. Last thing anyone would want would be the SEC coming after them, if they have done something illegal. That's just a prelude to criminal charges by DOJ, once the SEC is done with them from a civil lawsuit point of view.
In the old days it would have been hard to get access to real time trading data, and match them up against social media posting, for sure. These days as you have proved, anyone can do it if they so desire.
